Indlu Yomsuka– The house of origin

Audi Snyman Interior Architecture & Design was commissioned to curate the modern contemporary interior renovation of an existing family home. The result sees a stylish symphony of textures, colours, playful patterns and sophisticated designs resonating across the soft furnishing and bespoke hand-crafted furniture – each piece thoughtfully planned and created. The harmonious blending of wood, stone, leather and textiles add a distinguished element to the plush and stylish, while still practical comfort.

“Indlu Yomsuka” – the “House of Origin” – emanates vibrant, earth-centred harmony from the moment you step across the threshold and are welcomed by a striking Ramarutha Makoba masterpiece. His signature brightly coloured tree, this time in autumn golds and reds, sets the tone for a home inspired by maturity, wisdom and reflection. This immersive and timeless palette is artfully diffused across the light and spacious 460sqm luxury residence.

The art pieces adorning the walls across the home accentuate the timeless seasonal theme while amber and charcoal glass art pieces by David Reade, reflect the warm natural light, fusing the enchanting ambience.

A colourful Simphiwe Mlangeni painting illuminates the masculine, yet considered and uncluttered master bedroom, in which all soft furnishings and wall coverings beg to be touched –the velvety scatters and the luxurious vintage paisley throws, to the mustard ottoman, soft Lund rug underfoot and classical textured wall paper. The room’s conversational composition provides a curated, calm environment just a step away from Mother Nature. Outside, in the garden, two Bloc Outdoor loungers offer the chance to take in, and enjoy the luxury residence from a different perspective.

The home’s double volume windows bring in natural light while creating the feeling of being in the nucleus of an enchanting forest. At the top of the

stairs a study nook caters for all three first level bedrooms that lie beyond a mini gallery of Simphiwe Mlangeni’s black and white works of art, including some of trees, a focal point within the home. The bespoke wooden cabinetry further add to the environment being rooted in nature.

The bedrooms are harmonized showpieces, displaying multiple works of art encompassing the textiles and textures perched on the bed, through to the complementary art adorning exquisite wall paper.

Each bedroom is customised, individually and tastefully furnished, yet all connecting into the overarching golden thread with art to match the patterns, colours and textures you just want to sink your hands into. The pleasing composition of the walls, soft furnishings and hand-tufted rugs combine perfectly with the natural woods of the bespoke bedside tables, on which contemporary lampshades stand like sentinels guarding a peaceful slumberland.
Continuing with the theme of bringing the outside in, the now enclosed patio comprises a subtle, lighter and clean pallet across the textiles including whites, light greys, and a few delightful splashes of colour, just as you would find outside, in nature. The six seater bespoke patio table provides a platform for a Mark Swart ribbon sculpture, reminiscent of the colourful fallen leaves on an autumn ground. The layered spaces across this modern, contemporary home offer continuous opportunities to fully savour the ability to “live your best life”,
