Welcome to DanGiLou – a beautiful and unique country retreat, where exquisite murals and light pieces set the tone for a sophisticated and bespoke interior.
Each luxurious mahogany furniture piece within the ground floor spaces has been customised and the home’s downstairs timber tile floors offer the perfect backdrop to both these, and a multitude of intricate Persian rug art pieces.
A colour palette of soft creams, light greys, tan, brown, walnut, coconut husk, copper, and burnt umber cocoons the countryside ambience. As David Read glass art perches atop the bespoke coffee table and reflect the natural light, a unique, collectible chess set offers a further talking point.
The tailor-made bar was designed, built, and installed by The Wine Room, using oak with a mahogany colour finish that complements the floors and furniture pieces.
The purpose-designed and manufactured bar stools and matching elegant occasional chairs feature a deep diamond button leather design and are made for extra comfort and support.
The stylish TV lounge sofa suite comprises a two-seater sofa and occasional, deep-seated chairs with both decorative and functional scatters. The ottomans and coffee tables were designed with flexibility of movement in mind, and the room is easily adaptable to informal or more formal occasions.
The mahogany dining room table and eight fluted tub chairs were manufactured to suit the room’s dimensions, and to create a comfortable, long dwell-time area for special occasions or a casual family meal.
Exquisite light pieces are a theme that runs throughout the home. In the kitchen the pendant lights, under counter-, cabinet-, and dimmer lights all contribute towards the ambience of what is one of the most important spaces within the home.
The colour palette chosen for Gina’s Kitchen is influenced by this room’s centrepiece – an eight-plate free-standing blue gas stove with golden knobs and legs.
The gold is repeated in the front of house kitchen basin and cabinetry, and the blue repeated in the dark mahogany kitchen stools and dining nook.
The guest WC also features the golden touch, as well as a repeat of the entrance hall’s black and white floor, that was cut specifically to fill these areas.
At the top of the stairs, an informal reading nook has been created, close to the built-in fireplace and in front of the beautiful mural of an English countryside scene.
The upstairs kitchenette serves both the bedrooms, study, and pyjama lounge, and was made to precision by the local cabinet maker who constructed all built-in-cupboards throughout the five-bedroom home.
The central pyjama lounge features a custom-built corner sofa in dove grey, with a bespoke coffee table perched on a luxurious hand-knotted rug.
The impressive master bedroom was inspired by a five-star holiday experience as well as the heritage of the homeowner. The king-size bed is framed by a multi-layered headboard, that is book-ended by an extraordinary light feature using a Portuguese floral design. The built in reading lights are
one of many magical touches in this conversational space.
The handcrafted chenille occasional chairs in burnt umber emphasise the exclusive ambience created that continues into the elegant and oversized ensuite. The interior of the boutique master bathroom and dressing rooms are covered in gold-veined tiles, complemented by golden faucets and towel rails.
The meticulous attention to detail sees the incorporation of old-world glamour contributing to a magnificent space that offers serene sanctuary.
The Nature room was heavily influenced by the occupant’s love of Australia and the outdoors. This is reflected in the simple yet chic cabinetry, earthen textiles, beautiful wall murals and complementary colour palette.
In the room’s ensuite the timber tiling, charcoal slab tile and black fixtures offers an extension of the nature theme.
The Curves bedroom offers a more classical, softer interior with pendant lights framing the classical heirloom headboard. The use of duck egg in the scatters adds to the sense of serenity.
The ensuite is light with white silver-veined tiling and matching silver fixtures.
The Bold room makes a dramatic statement through the use of dark colours, a dark patterned hand-knotted rug, and natural textiles.
The room also features the same engineered oak floors that have been incorporated in all bedrooms.
The use of timber tiling, black silver-veined tiling and matching black fixtures in the en-suite completes this space.
The elegant interior of the downstairs guest bedroom is both welcoming and immersive. It’s calming and more neutral tan grey blue colour palette is neither masculine nor feminine. This light theme continues into the en-suite where a bamboo style wall cladding adds a clean and natural element to the guest experience.
Wooden pendant lights are suspended from the high struts in the outside patio and braai area and oversee this social space with ample seating opportunity for the many shared meals and celebrations to come. The exclusive Bloc Outdoor furniture seamlessly fills the space between bar and entertainment area, offering more comfortable seating and dwelling opportunity.
The interior spaces throughout DanGiLou create countless opportunities to fully savour the ability to “live your best life”.
